Santa Rosa police arrest 5 in gang sweep

The operation targeted those who failed to register as a gang member after a felony conviction.|

The Santa Rosa Police Department has arrested five people as part of a probation and parole compliance sweep on convicted gang participants.

The department said in a statement that the operation was focused on those who failed to register as a gang member after receiving a gang-related felony conviction. The 20 probation checks and four felony warrant searches were carried out on July 18 and Saturday.

Those arrested included: Irving Manuel Gomez-Lujano, 27, on complaints of a felon in possession of a handgun, violation of parole and failure to register as a gang member; Juan Manuel Aguilera-Miranda, 26, on complaints of failure to register as a gang member and violation of probation; Travis Nguyen, 24, on complaints of failure to register as a gang member and violation of probation; Joseph Michael Valdovina, 29, on a felony warrant for violation of post-release community supervision; and Sara Veronica Uribe, 27, on complaints of violation of post-release community supervision and possession of drug paraphernalia.
