Two Kelseyville residents suffered major injuries Saturday night when the motorcycle they were riding on crashed into a tree off Highway 175 in Lake County.

The California Highway Patrol said the motorcycle driver and passenger are both 61 years old. Their identities have not yet been released.

Officials said that at about 9:15 p.m. the motorcycle, a 2010 Harley Davidson, was heading west on Highway 175 approaching Salmina Road north of Loch Lomond at an unknown rate of speed. For some unknown reason, the motorcycle veered off the north edge of the roadway and ran into a tree.

Both driver and passenger of the motorcycle were thrown off and sustained major injuries, officials said. The CHP said it does not appear that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, and the cause is still under investigation.
