After he struck a 17-year-old girl with his vehicle, Stephen Anapolsky, 75, of Fort Bragg gave his name to the victim, then fled the scene, police said.

When police arrived at the intersection of Redwood Avenue and North Main Street at 5:02 p.m. Thursday, witnesses and the victim, who had sustained minor injuries, gave officers the suspect’s name.

Nine minutes later, police found Anapolsky at Mendocino Coast District Hospital. Police said they gave Anapolsky some tests and determined that he showed signs of being under the influence of drugs.

Anapolsky, who admitted being involved in the wreck, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, hit-and-run and violating his probation.

He was booked at the Mendocino County Jail and later released on bail.
