Two teens were arrested Sunday after leading officers on a chase in Novato, CHP officials said.

Jonathan McEntee, 19, of Cotati, was driving a stolen Hyundai Sonata south on Highway 101 around 7:30 p.m. when a patrol officer noticed the car had expired registration tags, the CHP said. The officer followed McEntee into Marin County after a dispatcher ran the license plate and discovered the car had been reported stolen out of Cotati a day earlier, officials said.

An officer attempted to pull McEntee over when he exited the highway onto Novato Boulevard, CHP said. McEntee did move over to the right but then took off, speeding through city streets and blowing stop signs, officers said.

McEntee pulled into an apartment complex after he reached a dead end on Hill Road, the CHP said. McEntee and his passenger, Clay Hansen, 18, of Redmond, Ore., then took off on foot, officials said.

McEntee was quickly arrested. Hansen was spotted 10 minutes later hiding in a nearby field, officers said.

McEntee, who didn’t have a driver’s license, faces numerous charges, including vehicle theft, fleeing police and resisting arrest. Hansen was arrested on charges of vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and resisting arrest.
