A school bus driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and child endangerment after she crashed a bus carrying 28 children in Napa County on Friday, the CHP said.
No children, who were being driven from Harvest Middle School to Browns Valley Elementary, according to the Napa Valley Register, were injured in the incident. The crash involved no other vehicles, the CHP said.
The 2:45 p.m. incident took place on Old Sonoma Road, north of Highway 12 to the west of Napa.
CHP officers who responded to reports of a bus blocking the highway said they found a woman who identified herself as the driver standing on the side of the road by the bus, which was disabled.
According to the CHP, while speaking to driver Jaquida Parker, 24, of Vallejo, the officer noticed signs indicating she might be intoxicated. He administered a series of field sobriety tests, which she failed, the CHP said.
Parker was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and 28 counts of felony child endangerment.
No further details about the nature of the crash, or the children on board the bus, were available late Friday.
