A Santa Rosa trucker hauling 8,500 gallons of gasoline was arrested earlier this week after officers received several reports that he was driving erratically on Highway 101.

Charles Foster, 46, was weaving in and out of traffic, nearly running off the road as he headed north toward Cloverdale late Monday afternoon, CHP officials said. He eventually turned off on Citrus Fair Drive, where an officer stopped him.

Foster, who had been hauling two trailers filled with gasoline from Martinez to Ukiah, pulled the truck onto the sidewalk. He told Officer Mike Phennicie that he was heading into Cloverdale because he wanted a Dr Pepper, the CHP said.

Foster, who told the officer it was his first day driving for a Ukiah fuel company, was arrested after it was determined he was under the influence of methamphetamine, prescription painkillers and a muscle relaxer, CHP said. The fuel company had to send another driver to pick up the tanker and trailers.
