OAKDALE - Authorities say two teenage boys are presumed dead after vanishing underwater in a reservoir over the Memorial Day weekend, and two people drowned after falling into a swift Northern California river.

Stanislaus County sheriff's officials say two 15-year-old boys were presumed dead Sunday after vanishing underwater in Woodward Reservoir.

Officials say the boys were on a family outing and jumped off a boat with several others Saturday. When the group realized the boys were missing, they called authorities.

Dive teams and the county's air unit resumed their search Sunday morning along the 2,900-acre reservoir with the help of sonar.

Farther north, a man and a woman drowned Saturday after falling into a swift Mokelumne River in Amador County.

Amador County Undersheriff Jim Wegner says the victims, both 18, were not wearing personal floating devices when they were swept downstream.
