Sonoma County Fair reaches final day of 2016 season

If you haven’t had your fill of fun at the Sonoma County Fair, Sunday is your last day for a visit.|

Today is the last chance to get your fill of Sonoma County Fair food, attractions and midway rides. Final day fair events include the monster truck show at 3 p.m.; Fiesta Day featuring Mexican folk dancing and ranchera music; and the popular Dog Dash at the horse racetrack.

Fair officials said this year’s fair was well attended, though an official admittance tally will not be available until Monday.

“Things are looking good. We’re having a really nice fair this year,” said Katie Young, deputy fair manager. “People seemed to have enjoyed the days here. They stayed longer, and attendance during the “senior days” - two Thursdays - was strong.”

Young said that while the fair ends today, a “bonus week” of horse racing will be held this week, from Friday through Sunday. Admission and parking will be free.

“It’s been a fantastic fair for us and the weather has cooled,” Young said. “It’s the last day for carnival rides and fair food.”
