Body found in water at Goat Rock Beach identified

A man whose body was found in the surf along Goat Rock Beach was identified Friday as Francis Molloy, 73, of Healdsburg, Sonoma County sheriff’s officials said.

Molloy had been reported missing by his longtime girlfriend eight hours before beachgoers spotted his body in the water about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, a sheriff’s spokesman said. Molloy apparently hadn’t returned home from work the day before.

A forensic medical examination was set for Monday to try to determine how Molloy died.
