Two people were arrested Wednesday afternoon in the aftermath of a road rage incident in Santa Rosa, police said.

A driver called 911 at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday and said she was involved in a road rage incident with another car at Stony Point and Sebastopol roads.

The woman said a male passenger had approached her on foot at the traffic light, threatened her and brandished a gun, authorities said.

The woman pulled away from the area and called police, but the suspect’s vehicle followed her as she turned eastbound onto Todd Road from Stony Point Road.

The victim slammed on her brakes and allowed the suspect’s vehicle to pass. The car then pulled in front of the woman and stopped in the middle of the road, according to police reports. The male passenger again exited the vehicle, threatened her and brandished a firearm.

Officers responded and located the suspect vehicle on the 500 block of Todd Road. The two were arrested.

The driver was identified as Carley Renee Tolonen, 18, of Santa Rosa, police said. The passenger was Gerardo Covarruvio Mendoza, 32, of Santa Rosa, officers said.

Mendoza has a lengthy criminal history, including a conviction related to being an active gang participant, police said.

Mendoza was arrested on complaints of possession of a concealed firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm, criminal threats, conspiracy, possession of marijuana for sale, transportation of marijuana for sale and brandishing of a firearm, police said.

Tolonen was arrested on complaints of possession of a concealed firearm, and conspiracy, police said.
