A wildfire Monday night in the Mayacamas Mountains between Napa and Sonoma counties prompted evacuations, but no structures were reported lost.

The fire off Dry Creek Road between Mount Veeder and Wall roads consumed more than 50 acres. Officials said it was moving at a moderate rate of spread, pushed by ?15 mph winds, on steep, brush covered slopes.

Initially reported at 4:15 p.m., it was met with an aggressive attack by firefighters in the air and on the ground. By 10 p.m. it was reported 25 percent contained.

Four helicopters, six air tankers, 12 engines, three bulldozers and about 180 firefighters were deployed, according to Cal Fire.

Smoke from the fire could be seen from both Sonoma and Napa valleys.

The advancing flames prompted evacuation orders in the Campbell Creek and Campbell Flat areas, but it was not immediately known how many residents were affected.

An evacuation center was set up in Napa at Crosswalk Church, ?2590 First St., but no one had shown up Monday night.

For more than four hours, the CHP shut down traffic at Trinity and Cavedale roads on the Sonoma side. Vehicles on the Napa side were turned around near Dry Creek and Oakville roads.

Roads were reopened around ?9 p.m.

The cause was under investigation.
