OROVILLE - Authorities in Northern California have arrested two women who allegedly assaulted a man with pepper spray and a bat.

The Butte County Sheriff's Office says Monday deputies arrested 35-year-old Angela Cross and 40-year-old Tammy Waldrop in Oroville.

The office says detectives arrested Cross on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury and Waldrop on suspicion of being an accessory to the assault.

Officials say the unidentified man had left a casino with the two women, who took him to an abandoned property Saturday, where he was beaten.

The man who suffered a head wound was taken to a local hospital and then flown to a trauma center for treatment.

The office says his condition was not known Tuesday.
