Ukiah man killed while crossing Highway 20 at Upper Lake

A Ukiah man was struck and killed by a pickup while crossing Highway 20 in Upper Lake Tuesday evening, the CHP reported.

The name of the victim, 46, was not available early Thursday afternoon.

The driver of the truck, Randy James Vess, 61, of Clearlake Oaks was driving eastbound on Highway 20 at Main Street when he struck the pedestrian just after 7 p.m. with his Dodge Ram, the CHP said. Details of the collision were not available.

The driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the collision, the CHP said. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
