Late Saturday, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office released an image of a car believed to be the one that struck a pedestrian in a Sonoma crosswalk on Friday afternoon and then fled the scene. The pedestrian was left with serious injuries and taken to the Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa for treatment, where she was recovering.

As of 8:20 p.m. Saturday, the sheriff’s office had no update on the woman’s status.

The hit-and-run crash was reported about 4 p.m. at Broadway and Andrieux Street, the Sheriff’s Office reported. The suspect took off northbound on Broadway in the area of Patten Street, as several witnesses stopped to help the victim, who was lying in the roadway, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives looking for the motorist described the driver as a white man in his 20s, and the photo of the car in question appears to show a gray or silver Pontiac Grand Am. Officials say it will have a shattered windshield.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking business owners or residents along Broadway and adjoining streets to review security cameras for recordings of the crash, believed to have happened between 3:45 p.m. and 4 p.m.

They are asked to contact the Sonoma Police Department at 707-996-3601.
