Reward offered in Sebastopol double slaying

Nearly two weeks after a shooting in rural Sebastopol left two men dead and a woman with critical injuries, authorities are still looking for those responsible.|

With an unknown gunman still at large nearly two weeks after two people were killed and a third wounded during a marijuana deal at a rural Sebastopol home, officials are offering a $2,500 reward for information that helps arrest and convict suspects in the Oct. 15 shooting at the Highway 116 South property.

Resident Nathan Proto, 36, was found shot to death in his rural home. His friend John Jessie Mariana, 28, of Guerneville died three days later from his injuries, and a 23-year-old woman remains hospitalized with critical head injuries from being shot.

On Saturday, Sonoma County sheriff’s officials released several photographs of a man being sought in connection with the case. Sgt. Spencer Crum said detectives were flooded with phone calls about those photos but are still trying to identify him as well as a woman seen with him.

The woman, who goes by the name Bonnie, was not pictured but described as being possibly Latina, about 5-foot-2 and “chunky” with a pierced right cheek, sheriff’s officials said.

They were seen in a white Hyundai Sonata.

The Sonoma County Alliance put up the funds to encourage people to help investigators solve the case, Crum said.

Anyone with information about the case can call the Sonoma County sheriff’s investigations bureau at 707-565-2185 or sheriff’s dispatch at 707-565-2121.
