A Santa Rosa man Monday morning remained in the Sonoma County Jail, suspected of leading Sonoma County sheriff's deputies on a fast pursuit up Highway 101 from southern to eastern Santa Rosa, according to a sheriff's official.

The chase started near South Moorland Avenue with the driver running a red light in a car missing a license plate, said sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Crum. A nearby deputy tried to pull over the driver, who headed onto northbound Highway 101 and sped up to about 100 mph.

The chase traveled to eastbound Highway 12, still reaching 100 mph, then moved to Farmer's Lane and surrounding residential streets.

The 12:20 a.m. Friday chase ended on Monterey Drive off Hoen Frontage Road with the driver pulling over and running. He was overtaken by two deputies who used a Taser barb to subdue him, Crum said.

Steven Arteseros, 53, was wanted on an arrest warrant for violating his parole, Crum said. Arteseros was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for an evaluation and then booked into the jail, suspected of felony evading and resisting and the parole violation. Arteseros was being held without bail.
