A man was shot to death during a home intrusion Friday night at a Clearlake residence, authorities said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken by friends to St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake around 7:40 p.m. after being shot in the chest, according to the Clearlake Police Department.

By the time officers arrived at the hospital, the victim had been pronounced dead, officers said.

Police later conducted a search warrant at the residence where the altercation took place, located at the 14200 block of Uhl Avenue.

They discovered that two men had come to the residence, with one brandishing a semiautomatic firearm.

The two entered the house and instructed the residents to get on the ground, police said.

One resident refused and fought with the suspect brandishing the gun. During the struggle, the firearm was discharged several times, including one shot that struck another resident.

The two men then fled in a black-colored sedan.

Police on Saturday released no further details and said the two suspects were still at large.
