The discovery of a vehicle - but no driver - crashed off Trinity Road in the hills near the Sonoma-Napa county line Sunday night sent firefighters searching the steep, wooded terrain for an injured person.

The vehicle was spotted “hanging off a cliff” about 8:30 p.m. Sunday off narrow, winding Trinity Road near the Mayacamas Volunteer Fire Department, according to the CHP log.

The area is about three miles east of Highway 12.

It appeared the crashed vehicle may have been abandoned. Firefighters were searching the area near the vehicle in case a driver was ejected at the time of the crash.

No more details were immediately available.
