Driver crashes into creek off Highway 37

Westbound traffic stacked up extensively behind the crash, just east of Sears Point.|

A driver early Monday crashed off Highway 37 and landed in a creek, according to emergency dispatch reports.

It wasn’t initially clear whether the vehicle was submerged but a Highway Patrol report indicated the vehicle was about 60-feet down an embankment from the highway.

The driver got out and crawled up to the roadway where he awaited firefighters and an ambulance. Schell-Vista firefighters responded.

The 7:45 a.m. crash happened off the westbound lane, east of Sears Point as the highway crosses Sonoma Creek.

Westbound traffic backed up to Vallejo, according to traffic reports.
