Man shot in head during Santa Rosa drive-by shooting
Santa Rosa police gang detectives are investigating a drive-by shooting in southwest Santa Rosa that left one man with a minor head wound.
Just before midnight Sunday the 21-year-old victim was sitting in his vehicle, stopped on West Avenue, when another vehicle pulled alongside. There were several males in the second car and one pulled out a gun and fired, hitting the driver and causing a minor wound, said Santa Rosa police gang Sgt. Tommy Isachsen.
The man drove home and called police. An ambulance took him to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.
What motivated the shooting and whether the victim is a gang member remained unclear Monday to detectives. The victim, whose name wasn’t released by police, was cooperating, Isachsen said.
A $2,500 reward has been offered by the Sonoma County Alliance “Take Back Our Community Program” for witness information leading to an arrest and conviction.
