HOMEWOOD, Calif. - A fire has destroyed a lodge at a ski resort on the west shore of Lake Tahoe.

No injuries have been reported, but the slopes at the Homewood Ski Resort will be closed at least until Thursday.

Fire officials say the building was vacant when the fire was reported about 3 a.m. Wednesday at the resort's South Lodge. Crews from a half dozen fire departments in the area responded to the blaze about 20 miles south of Truckee, California.

The lodge housed the resort's business offices as well as the Southwest Grill and Fireplace Tavern dining areas.

Homewood marketing director Missy Frey told the Sierra Sun (http://tinyurl.com/jpg83t3) they expect to reopen the mountain for skiing on Thursday.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
