Petaluma Subway robbed at gunpoint

A Subway sandwich shop in Petaluma was robbed at gunpoint Friday night by a suspect who remained at large Sunday, although at least part of the incident was caught on surveillance tape.

The robbery occurred around 8:30 p.m. Friday at 401 Kenilworth Drive, when a hooded man concealing his face approached the counter with a paper bag.

He pointed a black, semi-automatic pistol ?toward an employee ?while demanding money, police said.

The suspect escaped with an undisclosed amount of money, and police were unable to find him in the minutes afterward, despite an extensive search.

He was described as an Asian male of unknown age, 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build. He held a dark-colored piece of clothing over the lower portion of his face and was wearing a dark blue jacket over a hoodie, dark pants and light-colored shoes.
