Two North Coast school districts are among the state’s best on Niche.com.

West Sonoma County Union High School District and Mendocino Unified ranked 55 and 84, respectively, on the site’s list of top 100 California school districts for 2017. Palo Alto Unified School District ranked No. 1 on the list.

Niche, a website that researches and reviews K-12 schools, colleges and neighborhoods throughout the country, based its rankings on “rigorous analysis” of data from the U.S. Department of Education, as well as graduation rates, test scores, parents and student surveys and other measures. There are more than 1,000 school districts in the state.
