A Gualala woman crashed Monday evening on Highway 1 near Gualala and was flown by medical helicopter to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, according to the Highway Patrol.

North of Gualala at 5:30 p.m., Yolanda Martinez, 36, lost control of her car on a curve and veered off the road into some trees. Her 2005 Ford then flipped as it dropped down an embankment.

The injured woman was able to crawl out of the wrecked car and summon help. She appeared to have suffered minor injuries but was flown to the Santa Rosa trauma center as a precaution, due to the serious crash and distance for an ambulance response, according to the CHP.

She was in fair condition Tuesday at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Alcohol or drugs weren’t suspected as factors in the crash, according to the investigation.
