Looking for a weekend outing that combines exercise with altruism?

Volunteers are being sought to help clean up trash and debris Saturday at Santa Rosa’s Spring Lake Regional Park, which has flooded five times this year.

The 9 a.m. to noon event is open to all, including kayakers and canoers, who are encouraged to bring their boats and help clear debris from the lake and along the shore.

Gloves, bags and litter grabbers will be provided. Meet at the Lakeside Grill next to the swimming lagoon. The parking fee will be waived.

For more information, contact John Ryan at 707-565-3356 or parksvolunteer@sonoma-county.org.

Groups of 10 or more volunteers are asked to preregister. The event will be canceled by heavy rain.
