A high-risk Santa Rosa sex offender who assaulted two parole caseworkers who were checking on him at a hotel was sentenced Thursday to two years in prison.

Jonathan Michael Hoppner, 24, had been out of prison just a short time when he committed the new crimes.

The developmentally disabled man checked into the hotel after public warnings about him were issued by authorities in Petaluma and Rohnert Park.

Under the conditions of his release, he was to be under 24-hour care.

But when he was visited by two state caseworkers in April, he became upset, grabbing them and punching them.

Hoppner has seven prior convictions for sexual battery stemming back to 2013.
