Three people were hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after a head-on collision on Stony Point Road north of Ludwig Avenue, Santa Rosa Police said.

Just before 1 p.m., a woman driving a blue Prius south on Stony Point Road with her 16-year-old daughter was struck head-on by a man driving a white Chevrolet pickup headed the opposite direction. Witnesses told police the pickup veered into the opposite lane and tried to swerve back into the northbound lane before the head-on collision.

The speed limit on that stretch of Stony Point Road is 45 mph. It's unclear how fast either party was traveling.

Santa Rosa Fire Battalion Chief Mark Basque said while the 16-year-old was able to get herself out of the Prius, it took firefighters about 10 minutes to extricate her mother, and five minutes to free the pickup driver.

Their names have not been released.

Witnesses at the scene said the pickup driver was driving erratically prior to the crash.

The road remained closed until late Tuesday afternoon.

Police said all three people were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The investigation is continuing.

Santa Rosa Police asked any witnesses to call Officer Scott Anderson at 707-543-3636.
