Sonoma County sheriff’s deputies late Monday night arrested a homeless man in downtown Guerneville suspected of assaulting a teen with a knife.

Deputies had gone downtown at 10:30 p.m. to Pat’s Bar for a report of a man armed with a knife. They found a 17-year-old Guerneville youth with a cut to one hand.

The teen told deputies the man had grabbed him, held him in a choke hold and put a knife to his throat before the teen was cut while breaking away, said Sgt. Spencer Crum in a news release.

The teen said he’d been hanging out downtown when he heard a man pushing a shopping cart talking about people trying to get him. The teen told deputies that when he asked the man about his concerns the man grabbed him from the back.

Deputies stopped suspect David Terrazas, 56, nearby and arrested him on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment, Crum said. The man, who has a last known address in Antioch, wasn’t coherent, Crum said. He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail with bail set at $200,000.
