Help rid Spring Lake Park in Santa Rosa of its pesky French broom

County officials seek volunteers to go after invasive French broom at Spring Lake Park; gloves and tools provided.|

Based on name alone, French broom sounds like it would make a lovely addition to any landscape.

Mais non.

The non-native, invasive bush is more like a party guest who refuses to go away. At Spring Lake Regional Park in Santa Rosa, the time has come to sweep this good-for-nothing broom out the door.

County officials are seeking volunteers for a Saturday restoration project aimed at ridding the popular park of its unwanted interloper.

The event is from 9 a.m. to noon. Gloves and tools, along with drinks and snacks, are provided.

Volunteers will meet near the swimming lagoon via the park’s Violetti Road entrance. The parking fee is waived.

Heavy rains cancel. To reserve a spot, contact John Ryan with Sonoma County Regional Parks at 707-565-3356 or john.ryan@sonoma-county.org.
