Missing a parakeet? Check with the Sonoma Police Department

Sheriff’s deputies have launched a social media drive to name a lost parakeet.|

What’s yellow and loves to tweet?

If you guessed a lemon-colored parakeet turned over to Sonoma Valley deputies Friday morning, you’d be correct.

The small bird was found by a resident in the city of Sonoma. It was being cared for by deputies until someone claims it.

In the meantime, county law officers posted a picture of it on Facebook, perched on Deputy Jon Anderson’s hand. And they have invited people to come up with a name for it.

Tweet and Tweeter have emerged as two contenders in a lively online discussion.

One commenter wrote: “Great to see a Tweeter making the news. It sure beats to (sic) other kind making the news.”

Other suggested names are Sunshine, Precious and Rescue. Check it out yourself atfacebook.com/sonoma.sheriff/
