Finance website WalletHub ranks San Francisco the worst city in US for drivers

WalletHub analyzed data from 100 U.S. cities including time in traffic and average gas prices to determine which places are the worst for motorists.|

It's every driver's dream for no traffic, low gas prices and a safe parking spot. However it's time for a wakeup call as San Francisco was just ranked the overall worst city in the U.S. for drivers with Oakland, just east of the City By The Bay, as the second worst, according to finance site WalletHub.

The company's report took the country's 100 largest cities and analyzed average gas and parking prices, car thefts, auto repair shops per capita and time spent in traffic to get an overall ranking for each.

San Francisco also ranked as the highest average gas price at $3.20, with Oakland coming in second. Compare that with the lowest price of $1.85 in Tulsa, Okla.

In fact, San Francisco and Oakland did substantially worse than other California cities, like San Jose with an overall ranking of 88 and Long Beach at 85 (1 being the best out of 100 cities).

However, the low number of rainy days kept both cities off the top five worst places for precipitation. Predictably, Portland, Ore. and Pittsburgh, Penn. held those titles.
