After battling the La Cadena fire in La Loma Hills all day, firefighters from the Colton Fire Department in Southern California went to a Denny's for a meal Saturday night. To their surprise, an anonymous woman told restaurant staff she wanted to pay the entire bill, which came to $405, for all 25 who were dining.

In a post on the City of Colton's Facebook page, the crew thanked the woman for her generosity. “On behalf of all of the firefighters that worked on the La Cadena Fire from San Bernardino County Fire, Cal Fire, Redlands, Colton, Loma Linda, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, San Manuel, Montclair, Apple Valley, Chino Valley, Upland, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Aviation, and Colton PD, we thank you for your generous show of support,” the department said in its post. “We are all honored to serve the citizens of our communities.”

Colton Fire Department Chief Tim McHargue told CNN that he “felt bad that he couldn't say thank you,” but hopes she sees news coverage to see how grateful the crew is.

The woman remains anonymous, but the community has been praising her for the gesture.
