The bus driver, William Jessip, 73, of Clearlake Oaks was unable to slow down as he approached backed up traffic caused by a 2008 Honda making a left turn, according to the CHP.

Jessip then swerved the bus into the opposite lane and directly in the path of a 1994 Honda traveling southbound, the CHP said, and he two vehicles were involved in a side-swipe collision.
