A Santa Rosa Junior College student hit by a car Saturday night while crossing Mendocino Avenue remained hospitalized Tuesday in critical condition.

Aryan Karki, 23, was being treated in the intensive care unit of Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, according a hospital spokeswoman.

Karki and a friend were walking in a poorly lit crosswalk Saturday about 10 p.m. at Denton Way when Karki was hit by a passing car. The 20-year-old driver told police he didn’t see the pair, according to an accident investigator.

Karki suffered head injuries and hasn’t been able to talk to accident investigators. The investigation is continuing.
