Nearly 1,800 homes and businesses in downtown Santa Rosa and near the Junior College neighborhood lost power Wednesday evening.

Santa Rosa Fire officials reported on Twitter that the 8:36 p.m. outage was caused by a tree branch into power lines on King Street, adding that PG&E was on the scene.

Power to all customers was restored by 9:15 p.m., said PG&E spokeswoman Karly Hernandez. She confirmed a tree branch had struck a utility line.

The outage affected businesses on Mendocino Avenue in downtown and homes in the Junior College neighborhood from near College Avenue and Slater Street in the west to Spencer Avenue and North Street in the east, according to the utility’s outage map. A few western blocks of the McDonald neighborhood also were shown to have lost power.
