Napa woman, 33, arrested in connection with stabbing family friend

A 33-year-old Napa woman was arrested Saturday night in connection with the stabbing of man police described as a family friend, Napa police said.

Officers found the 59-year-old victim in the front yard of a house on Arboreo Street near the intersection with South Franklin Street about 8:30 p.m., Sgt. Nick Dalessi said.

The man, who sustained stab wounds to the arm and shoulder, was transported to Queen of the Valley Medical Center with injuries that weren’t life-threatening, Dalessi said.

Police located a suspect in the home’s backyard, but she refused to come out and officers, believing she was armed, negotiated with her, Dalessi said.

She eventually emerged from the backyard with blood on her hands and clothes, but continued to resist police orders until an officer fired a bean bag from a shotgun, knocking her down so she could be apprehended, Dalessi said.

A knife suspected to be the weapon used in the stabbing was found in the backyard, he said.

Christine Camp, identified as a transient, was booked into Napa County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, obstructing a police officer and a violation of felony probation.
