Santa Rosa fire displaces 6

Fire at a Santa Rosa home displaced six residents, according to a fire official Monday.

The fire burned the back porch of a Trombetta Street home and firefighters kept flames out of the house. But heat caused several windows in the two-story house to break, and smoke flowed inside, damaging the residence, Santa Rosa fire Battalion Chief Matt Dahl said.

The cause remained under investigation, including whether residents smoking on the back porch could have been involved, Dahl said.

Fifteen firefighters in three fire engines and a ladder truck responded to 3:10 p.m. calls Sunday for help to the southwest Santa Rosa street off Stony Point Road. They found the porch afire.

Three adults and three children and pets had gotten out safely, Dahl said. The Red Cross was called to help with temporary housing.

Dahl estimated damage was $25,000.
