Flooding closes roads around Sonoma County

Overnight rains brought trouble to the usual trouble spots Wednesday morning, including Highway 12/121 in Sonoma, where flooding still had the road closed west of Fremont Drive as the morning commute got under way.

Several cars became trapped during the early morning hours, the CHP said. Though rain was diminishing on Wednesday morning, the road remained shut down, forcing motorists to find alternate routes around the Broadway/Highway 12 area, using Eighth Street East and Napa Road.

In west Sonoma County, Freestone-Valley Ford Road also was closed due to flooding between Highway 1 and Bodega Highway on Wednesday morning.

Downed trees closed portions of several other rural roads, while trees and limbs closed two spots of Highway 128 near the Mendocino County community of Navarro, the CHP said.

Flooding earlier had closed Mark West Station Road near Windsor and Green Valley Road near Graton.

Their status Wednesday morning was not clear.
