Two Petaluma crashes snarl southbound Highway 101 morning commute

Two crashes on Highway 101 south snarled traffic from Cotati to Petaluma during the early commute Tuesday morning.

A vehicle traveling south went off the highway and into a ditch by the Pepper Road on-ramp just north of Petaluma around 6:06 a.m., according to CHP reports. There were no injuries in the accident.

A few minutes later, around 6:10 a.m., a car slammed into a guardrail while traveling south by the Lakeville Highway exit on Highway 101, CHP reported. There were no injuries.

The two incidents plugged the highway for more than an hour with southbound traffic on backing up to Highway 116 in Cotati, according to CHP.
