OAKLAND - Officials are warning residents in San Francisco's East Bay about rattlesnakes following two recent bites.

The East Bay Regional Park District issued an advisory about rattlesnakes after the most recent bite on Friday.

KTVU-TV reports that a rattlesnake bit a teenage girl in a residential area of Clayton near Mount Diablo State Park.

And on April 22 in Mount Tamalpais State Park, a rattlesnake bit a 79-year-old man twice. He had to be airlifted to the hospital.

Both he and the girl survived the bites.

The park district's advisory warns residents that the snakes like to explore when the weather gets warm. They say hikers should never go alone, always pay close attention to the ground and keep themselves and their pets on designated trails.
