Gas leak closes Corby Avenue for two hours
A gas leak shut down Corby Avenue along Auto Row for about two hours Monday.
A construction crew struck a natural gas line around 2:40 p.m. while working in the street in front of Hansel Volkswagen, said Paul Lowenthal, assistant fire marshal for the Santa Rosa Fire Department.
PG&E crews immediately were dispatched to the scene at 2900 block of Corby Avenue and sealed the leak by 4:05 p.m., company spokeswoman Deanna Contreras said. Construction workers were installing new telecommunications lines in the area when they struck the two-inch plastic gas line, she said.
Traffic resumed on the street by 5 p.m., according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.
