A 32-year-old Rohnert Park man who pulled his wallet out to give a stranger a dollar was stabbed at a Sebastopol flea market Sunday, authorities said.

The man, who hasn’t been identified, was at the Midgley’s Country Flea Market on Gravenstein Highway South earlier in the day and returned after driving his family home, Sonoma County Sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Crum said. A stranger approached the man and requested a dollar after he parked his truck in the west corner of the market’s parking lot around 4 p.m. As the man pulled out his wallet, the suspect hit him on the head with a blunt object and then stabbed him in the arm and stomach, Crum said.

The suspect took the wallet and ran toward the west field. Authorities were unable to find him.

The victim was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for injuries not considered life-threatening, Crum said.

In an interview with sheriff’s deputies from the hospital, he described the suspect as a Hispanic man around 5-foot-4 with slicked hair, a goatee and mustache. He wore a white T-shirt and black pants.

Anyone with information can call the Sonoma County Sheriff’s detectives at 707-565-2185.
