A Sonoma County deputy prosecutor who waged an unsuccessful election campaign against District Attorney Jill Ravitch is leaving the office to join a Santa Rosa law firm.

Victoria Shanahan is joining Adams Fietz Trial Lawyers, specializing in criminal defense. Her last day as a prosecutor is Oct. 3.

The Willits native, who had been reassigned to the narcotics team after her defeat at the polls, has been a Sonoma County prosecutor since 2007. She previously worked as chief deputy district attorney in Mendocino County.

She challenged Ravitch in the June election, losing 64 percent to 36 percent.
