Light up the holidays around Sonoma

Holiday events in high gear|

Downtown Geyserville will glow this Saturday with its annual Lighted Tractor Parade beginning at 6 p.m. This annual tradition is just the beginning, however. Once the lit up tractors have dimmed for the evening, there are still plenty of twinkling lights to be seen in Wine Country during holiday happenings.

Calistoga will hold its 19th annual Lighted Tractor Parade at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, along Lincoln Avenue in the historic downtown. The small-town celebration includes warm cider, an appearance by Santa, and a dazzling array of 50 tractors, trucks and floats aglow with Christmas lights. visitcalistoga.com.

Petaluma turns back the clock and embraces its legacy as a port city during the Holiday Lighted Boat Parade on Saturday, Dec. 13. A flotilla of illuminated boats will make a dramatic arrival at the Petaluma River Turning Basin in the downtown at around 6:30 p.m. The vessels sail from the Petaluma Marina at 6 p.m. visitpetaluma.com.

The Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens will hold its 5th annual Festival of Lights this month, setting up a winter wonderland with luminaria-lined garden paths bordered with luminous mushrooms, jellyfish and birds. The festival takes place Nov. 28 to 30, Dec. 4 to 7, and Dec. 11 to 14. Tickets are $10 for adults over 17, free for kids age 16 and under, available at The Garden Store at the botanical gardens, Harvest Market in Fort Bragg and Out of this World in Mendocino. After strolling through the garden, you can get a photo taken, enjoy strolling musicians, shop in the Holiday Store or purchase refreshments in the Holiday Sweets Cafe. 18220 North Highway 1, Fort Bragg. gardenbythesea.org.
