Lee (Leland) and Lynne (Cella) Thompson are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year.

Lee, a retired painter and Lynne, a retired bookkeeper met at a dance held at the Russian River. They were introduced by Daryl Cella, one of Lynne's 12 siblings. They went to a movie and were married two years later on May 23, 1964, in Carson City, Nev. A few years later, they welcomed their children Deena Thompson (Stalder), who is married to Wayne Stalder, and Todd Thompson, who is married to Sarah Thompson.

These days, Lee enjoys gardening and wine while Lynne enjoys volunteering at Committee on the Shelterless (C.O.T.S.) and pilates. Together they go to movies, take walks and spend time with their large family and group of friends. They also spend as much time as possible with their grandchildren, 16-year-old Jordan Thompson of Kent, Wash., and 13-year-old Mason Stalder of Rohnert Park.

They celebrated their milestone anniversary in Italy, where they visited relatives and explored the cities and countryside. They don't believe there is a secret to a long happy marriage, but they value the humor and mutual respect they share.
