Fresh from our Farmers: Check out Petaluma East Side Farmers Market

The Petaluma East Side Farmers Market operates year round, rain or shine, in Lucchesi Park on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It is a great mid-week resource. In late January, there are about 30 vendors, some familiar, some new to the market scene.

Leisen’s Bridgeway Farms currently has broccoli, leafy greens and a good selection of citrus. Ortiz Farms has lots of beets along with lettuce, parsley, cilantro, onions, potatoes, carrots, chard, other greens and more.

Ludwig Farm, operated by Stokes Rucker, has the only eggs currently available at the market right now, along with potatoes, onions and cabbage.

Neufeld Farms has grapefruit, Mandarins and other citrus, in addition to their nuts and dried fruit.

Oasis Date Farm offers organic dates.

Happy Hens Farm has returned to the market after a break and currently has goat, lamb and beef raised on the southern slope of Sonoma Mountain. They have partnered with Graham Wheeler’s Produce and are offering the farm’s red and golden beets.

Bloomfield Bees attends with their honey.

Physis Foods is here with made-on-the-spot stocks and soups, along with Bella Rosa coffee.

American Fish Company of Petaluma sells its canned tuna here, made from line-caught, net-free fish, and Full Circle Baking Co. attends with its organic breads.

The Sonoma Spice Queen, not to be confused with the Sonoma Spice Company or the Local Spicery, attends this market with an array of hand-milled spice blends. Nan’s Gourmet has olive oils and vinegars.

New to the market is Victor’s Energy Bars, which are vegan and made from dates and a number of other ingredients from the market. The stall is a tiny house on wheels that is absolutely adorable.

Some vendors, including the Strudel Guy, are taking the winter off but as spring unfolds, they will return. For now, there is more than enough to stock your refrigerator and pantry for delicious winter meals.

The Petaluma East Side Farmers Market, founded in 2012 and currently managed by Kelly Smith, takes place year round on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Lucchesi Park, 320 North McDowell Blvd.
