The kickoff for Charlie Palmer’s Pigs & Pinot event this weekend is Friday at Hotel Healdsburg: The Taste of Pigs & Pinot, where guests sample 60 wines competing in the Pinot Cup competition.

Guests will taste the wines alongside a variety of pork dishes. The weekend events include the Gala Dinner, the Tournament of The Pig with Charlie Palmer and the Ultimate Pinot Smackdown Seminar. Tickets: Taste of Pigs & Pinot, $175; seminars, $125. hotelhealdsburg.com.

Rhone Ranger Mania

The wine trade association Rhone Rangers’ March 28 Grand Tasting is the largest tasting of American Rhone wines with 300-plus pours and more than 2,000 people expected. The Grand Tasting, at 3 p.m., is the Craneway Pavilion, Ford Point, Richmond. Tickets for Grand Tasting: $75 in advance, $85 at the door. rhonerangers.org.
