Visit the venues of Auction Napa Valley

If you didn’t score a ticket to this year’s Auction Napa Valley weekend, there’s still a way to experience the venues that provided glamorous backdrops for the auction’s various winemaker dinners and events: Visit them.

Hall Wines, www.hallwines.com, offers two tasting rooms. At Hall, cabernet sauvignon is king and you’ll be wise to focus on reds across the board at both tasting rooms:

1. Hall St. Helena, 401 St. Helena Highway, 707-967-2626. This tasting room is located at the base of the Mayacama Mountains. The winery and tasting room are on a 33-acre property.

2. Hall Rutherford. This tasting room is toward the end of a private drive off the main road that leads to the well-known Auberge du Soleil Resort. Call for specific directions. 707-967-0700.

Luna Vineyards, www.lunavineyards.com, 2921 Silverado Trail, Napa, 707-255-5862. The standouts here are the sangiovese and pinot grigio.

Pride Mountain Vineyards, www.pridewines.com, 4026 Spring Mountain Rd., St. Helena, 707-963-4949. Impressive reds reign here. Shafer Vineyards, www.shafervineyards.com, 6154 Silverado Trail, Napa, 707-944-2877. Cabernet sauvignon and Bordeaux blends are exceptional here.

Robert Mondavi Winery, www.robertmondaviwinery.com, 7801 St. Helena Hwy., Oakville, 888-766-6328. Reds and whites are tasty across the board at Mondavi.

St. Supery Estate Vineyards & Winery, www.stsupery.com, 8440 St. Helena Hwy., Rutherford, 707-963-4507. This winery makes tasty reds, but here you won’t want to miss the sauvignon blanc. It’s striking.

Trefethen Family Vineyards, www.trefethen.com, 1160 Oak Knoll Ave., Napa, 866-895-7696. Chardonnay here is top notch.
