Lloyd and Oddfrid Koonst celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at the Wedgewood Banquet Center in Rohnert Park. The event was hosted by their children Corinne (Coakley) and Jody (Fairfield). They met in 1953 at the USO Center in San Francisco where Oddfrid had volunteered as a hostess. Lloyd served in the Army from 1949-1951 and the Navy from 1951-1959. Oddfrid moved from San Francisco to Santa Rosa shortly after meeting Lloyd. They were married on April 3, 1955 in San Mateo and made their home in Santa Rosa. In 1957 they purchased their first home, where they still reside today. Both Oddfrid and Lloyd retired from the Santa Rosa City School District. They enjoy their 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren who still reside in Sonoma County. Oddfrid’s advice for a long and happy marriage is “pick your battles”. Lloyd just says “yes dear”.
