Sonoma County Pride fest ready to rock Russian River

With the infamous pride parade, dance parties and a gathering at Rio Beach, this weekend’s gay pride celebration in Guerneville is not to be missed.|

The Russian River rocks this weekend during the annual Sonoma County Pride celebration.

Rumors, the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, comic Nikki Carr and singer/songwriter Bobby Jo Valentine are part of the entertainment lineup.

Festivities launch Friday, June 5, with the First Friday Art Walk through downtown Guerneville galleries; an exhibit of the Russian River’s LGBT history at the Guerneville Lodge, 15905 River Road, Guerneville; and a country-western dance complete with lessons at the Veterans Memorial Hall ($10).

Saturday’s big events include a Rio Beach Party with boating, barbecue, music, games and movies at the Rio Theater, and a Night Time Fantasy Time party at the Veterans Memorial Hall.

It all builds up to Sunday’s big parade, starting at 11 a.m. in downtown Guerneville and followed by the Pride Festival at the Guerneville Lodge from noon to 6 p.m.
